Czech Human Rights Commissioner spent night
with Roma evictees 5. 10. 2005
Another part of the eviction process has arisen in the Czech city of
Bohumin, where Roma residents are being evicted by the city from their
housing since spring 2005. Last night (October 4th) Czech Human Rights
Commissioner Svatopluk Karasek decided to spend the night in the housing
project after receiving an invitation from Roma residents who are still
accommodated there.

Bengas, a famous Romany Band from Prague, will release their
long-awaited second CD on Friday October 7th during their CD-release
party at the Roxy Club, beginning at 19.00. Hana Hegerová, the legendary
Czech singer, will be the guest of honor at the the concert.

Conference on Antiziganism in Hamburg 4. 10. 2005
On October 8 and 9 the European Centre for Antiziganism Research (EZAF)
of Hamburg, Germany, organizes the 2nd International Conference on
Antiziganism. Roma and non-Roma scientists and activists will discuss
together the ‘Antiziganism’ and they will then develop common research
strategies.

OSCE Meeting Concerned with Situation of Roma 3. 10. 2005
The OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM) took place in
Warsaw, Poland, between September 19 and 30. The HDIM agenda included
fundamental topics such as democracy, international migrations, human
rights, tolerance and anti-discrimination. Several working sessions held
during the meeting were dedicated to the situation of Roma in Europe.

Contest of Journalisn on ‘ Access to Health of the Ethnic Roma
Communities’ 4. 10. 2005
BUCHAREST – Center for Independent Journalism in Bucharest has launched
a contest on projects of investigation opened to all the journalists in
the local and central press and in all the types of media.The theme of
the contest is the investigation of the problems on the access to health
of all the ethnic Roma communities in Romania.
